Celebrity can magnify, but it can also trivialize. -- Bono

by The Fly Guy

Well, its 1:15 am in the morning on Monday, May 14th and I am still elevated. Sunday, May 13th, U2's second show in Chicago, was my 2nd Elevation Tour concert. The first was not the first show in Chicago, it was the May 3rd concert in Cleveland. Let me tell you, Chicago belongs to U2 and U2 belongs to Chicago (at least in North America). The fans were unbelievable! They rocked the Cleveland fans, and made the concert a memorible. But moving onto the concert. U2, came on stage in usual fashing at about 8:45pm. They blasted into Elevation followed by Beautiful Day. They then surprised everyone by going into Pride, I thought we were in for a bunch of surprises. We weren't so lucky, but we were part, of what I feel the best show thus far on the tour. Following Pride, was Kite then Stuck in a Moment. Bono then expessed his gratitude to the city of Chicago for our exceptance of their last album Pop. Bono then carried into Gone, followed by the return of Dicoteque/Starring at the Sun to the tour. New York then followed, but Bono was on the main stage and not doing his usual shadow dancing at the peak of the heart. I Will Follow followed New York, then my favorite of the night Sunday Bloody Sunday. Sweetest Thing was then played with Bono behind the piano. There were no Band Intoductions...that was a downer. The boys followed Sweetest Thing with In A Little While, then The Ground Benneath Her Feet. All I Want is You came next with Street in its usual spot. Mysterious Ways followed the The Fly...Bono ended the Smashed against the main screen on the front stage. The encore were great and came as follows: Encore 1: Bullet The Blue Sky With Or With Out You: Bono sang most of the song on the heart runway lying down with a GA woman. Encore 2: One: simply great Walk On: Edge had some problems with his part...Bono improvised, it was great. After the concert the United Center erupted, I almost went deaf, it was so load. Bono and Edge acted like they wanted to stay out. We started a chant on ONE MORE SONG, but it didn't work. The light came on and the recorded version of Grace to the place of the deafing crowd chants. Simply put the United Center crowd was great, U2 was on the top of their game...and we have two more shows to go! I can't wait, GA tickets to both it is going to unbelievable.
