"I've nothing against synths, contrary to popular belief — it's the machines who play the machines that worry me." — Bono

by Lauren B

The last time I saw U2 perform was 4 years ago in Columbus, Ohio. My parents bought me the tickets for my 17th birthday, and even though the seats were far from the stage -- I remember feeling completely awestruck and immersed in the show. I was fortunate enough, however, to get a single GA ticket for last night's show and even more lucky to get randomly selected for entrance into the ellipse. I am still in shock at how close i was to the band: I wish I could describe the energy that radiates from the band to the fans when you are positioned that near to the stage. Bono and Edge's chemistry during Mysterious Ways was unbelievable, and to be that close to Bono while he celebrates the life of MLK during Pride is no less than spiritual. I could not keep my eyes off Adam during The Fly, and Larry's final drum solo was the greatest way to end the show. I will be reliving this show over and over again in my head...or at least until the dvd is released!
