"He is a brainy man and he thinks extreme poverty is stupid." — Bono, on Bill Gates

by cjnemec

It's 8:25 A.M., May 10, and I'm sitting at work, still completely unaware of what happened last night. What an incredible experience. This was my 10th U2 show and first Vertigo show and I loved Elevation and Popmart, but this was something else. I was on the outside of the ellipse, about 2 rows back dead center. We arrived at 7:20 and were #108, which was fine, and by comparison, I saw the first night in Boston on Elevation where they were filming and we arrived at around 12:30 P.M. and were #130, so obviously Chicago has more rabid U2 fans. I'm just playin' around, but it was interesting to see how many people were there so early! First of all, the GA line was handle very well, NOT (and I emphasize NOT) by the United Center, but by the fans themselves, particularly the guy with #1 on his hand. You need to be thanked and commended. Second, I want to thank the two ladies behind us from Peoria in line who understood that my friends Boyfriend had Cross-country practice and couldn't get there until 10:00ish and were willing to let him jump in with us! Awesome people. U2 fans are just generally awesome. The guy filming the DVD was great! We got to share our stories from Elevation and do a horrible job with Vertigo. Onto the show... Spirit was in the house. I don't need to say anything else. Oh, and Party Girl was insane with everyone singing along and really giving the girl alot of support. Again, U2 Fans are awesome. This was the best show I've seen. I was in tears five times... Blinding Lights, Miracle Drug, Sometimes, Running and Streets... One and Mysterious Ways were nuts... An Cat Dubh-Into the Heart with the little girl was perfect. The camera's were not a distraction and I liked Bono's speec before Miracle Drug that was a backhanded slap at fans and critics who are missing the point of U2's music. That was great. Somemore crazy memories. Happy Birthday Bono, Dream out Loud C.J.
