"When you go into a shop, and you're in the only successful band to have come out of Ireland since whenever . . . it is embarrassing when you want to go buy some socks." — Larry

by Jimmy The Cubs Fan

You have to love these guys, but Bono seemed "off" all through the night - voice was off key and a bit weak. Crowd loved "City of Blinding Lights," "Where the Streets Have No Name" and One." The Achtung Baby set in the encore did not really stir the crowd, but the "experiment" with "Laura" (the girl who was pulled onto the stage) brought everyone back in. Bono turned over the guitar to her - not sure if this was scripted or not - and she puttered our "Party Girl." Actually the fact that she wasn't a pro made the whole thing a bit sweet; how many other rockers would have egged her on and oulled her through. A strange, almost talky "Yaweh" followed and then a very cool "40" where they each departed Von Trapp Family-style with Larry Mullen Jr. staying on to close it out. Ups and downs, but still a great show and the crowd was on. Hope the final DVD print is from this show.
