"He shoots the music you are making, who you can be rather than who you are." — Bono, on Anton Corbijn

by clark

This was my 12th U2 show, and 1st one this year. Can't believe my first show was almost exactly 20 years ago - Unforgettable Fire Tour. Tonight's show in H-town was in the top 5 that I've seen. Almost identical set list to Detroit's 1st show, only real difference was first encore song was The First Time, instead of Walk On.
Bono and the boys had 2 nights off before this show, and it showed - excellent voice, very pumped up. Houston crowds have not been as hyperactive as in other towns - this was evident when Electric CO. was played, and the beer lines grew - but more active than they had been, and most of the Toyota Center was rockin' (In comparison - Austin has had great crowds!)
U2 even went old school during Electric Co. and sang "Send in the Clowns/Crowd" during the break.

One was excellent, and Bono gave a shout out to current Houston Rocket Dikembe Mutumbo, who was in attendance, for his help with the One campaign. Other notables in the crowd were Roger Clemmons, Ray Childress, and Craig Biggio - who was seated to chants of "Bee G O".

Great explanation of CoEXisT.

Yahweh and 40 were the final encore, and it was better than could be expected. I had not heard how Yahweh was played at other stops, but tonight it was just Bono and Edge acoustically and it was moving and inspiring and awesome. Makes me want to pack up and head to Dallas for tomorrow.
