"We've never been cool; we're hot. Irish people are Italians who can't dress, Jamaicans who can't dance." — Bono

by Greg Daigle

A great show! U2 was flawless last night and played with tremendous energy. The Edge was particularly sharp, playing mind-blowing riffs and in my opinion making the show. Bono's voice was sharp and clear contrary to previous reports and he was all over the main and the B-stage. Adam was his usual stoic self playing a heavy bass line through the night. The band was connecting with the crowd tonight and you could feel it.

The effects were good but it was the band that made the show. The new material was very well received. Please was fantastic, as well as Gone, and Disco. There has been some grumbling from "old" fans about the lack of early material in the show but U2 has never played to much old music when they tour. Even in ZOO TV, New Years Day was the only oldee. They did play four songs from Joshua Tree which is 10 years old, as well as Unforgettable Fire and also went all the way back to Boy with I Will Follow which was kick- ass. The mix of songs was good, One was a good closer followed by Unchained Melody which served as an intimate goodbye by Bono and Edge while Larry and Adam stood at attention.

If you are undecided in anyway GO SEE THIS SHOW! It's unlike anything you'll ever see.
