"I think that punk was born out of disillusionment, but with rock ‘n’ roll people had never thought they could feel like this before." — Edge

by Glenn Paterson

Well what a difference your seat location makes....

I had A-Reserve tickets (I believe the "best" seats) and the same as another reviewer was disappointed by how far away my $200 seats were.

Also, and definitely worse, the echo in Telstra Dome was borderline unbearable, which meant I spent most of the concert trying to separate the echo from the direct sound.

When I concentrated (and covered the ear which was experiencing most of the echo), the show was awesome. U2 did "appear" to put on a great show, they were energetic and seemed to be putting their back into it.

It was just so annoying/disappointing that there was no clean sound. If I hadn't known the words to the songs, I wouldn't have been able to understand anything Bono was singing. In fact, I couldn't even understand him when he was talking....

I'd seen that Kite was the finale in previous shows, so when that kicked off I thought it was all but over. The didgeridoo addition to Kite was awful - feedback, distortion complete noise. It was almost to a point of having to cover my ears totally.

I was extremely disappointed thinking that would be the way the concert finished, so when the guys kicked off with Bad, I was over the moon.

My thoughts were (and still are) that the guys recognised how terrible Kite was and decided they couldn't finish on that note....

Even with the echo, Bad really was an awesome way to finish and I couldn't stop smiling.

As I said earlier...
