"Where rock ‘n’ roll becomes part of pop music I tend to lose interest." — Adam

by Tom & Micah

Very, very solid show. They certainly got thier rest in for the past few days. Highlights certainly are in this order:

1. Out of Control- the version practically stole the show by itself. A wonderful speech in the middle of the song. Well done (well, it should be, if they have been playing it since 1979!)

2. Who's Going to Ride Your Wild Horses in Bad- a wonderful surprise, it was the first verse of the song "Your dangerous...." and that melted into 40, which came into Streets. Amazing. Bad/Streets/Haven't Found/Pride was an amazing time of the show.

3. Kite- I saw this performed at the first Anaheim show, and it has grown and matured into a staple live song. Micah never saw it live and actually didn't pay much attention to it previously. Now, he says he has "changed his mind". Great song live.

4. Please- the acoustic version is so haunting– the "September...Streets capsizing" part of the song is eerily appropriate for today.

5. Whats Going On with Gwen Stefani was a wonderful surprise. They complimented each other really well. Sense of joy and hope was brought into the song.

6. The woman brought on during People Get Ready was a great highlight. You really wanted to be in her shoes- it was certainly and "every (wo)man" experience. Edge and Bono were having so much fun with her up there, it was great. Bono kept trying to get her to sing, and eventually sang about how guitarists DON'T sing. A qoute: "they're chicken/ but that's just my opinion"...

7. An understated take on songs made them much better. Instead of long tirades, Bono did some powerful non vocal choices. During Sunday Bloody, at his usual speaking point, he just held a flag to his chest, and bowed his head in prayer. Only coming up about a minute later to finally say "wipe your tears away..." and during a stirring version of One, he just held up one finger to introduce the song.

All in all, it had to have been the most moving performance seen by the boys yet.
