"We've never been cool; we're hot. Irish people are Italians who can't dress, Jamaicans who can't dance." — Bono

by StarP

I couldn't wait for tonight to come. I have been a long time fan, but have never seen U2 in person. The show was amazing......They opened with City of Blinding Lights then went straight into Vertigo then Elevation. Elevation really got the place rocking.

Next was Cry/Electric Co.....man, The Edge has definately got it! He was just outstanding,he is still quite the guitarist!!

My personal favorite of the night was Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own...Bono sang it with so much emotion and the Edge put his own emotion into the back up and guitar...it made me well up a little.

Bono pulled a couple of girls out of the audience one was pretty hot and let him know she thought he was hot too....but it was all in good nature, they did not overstay their welcome on stage.

The Encore set included Pride, Where the Streets Have no Name, One, All Because of You, Yahweh and "40". One thing that was touching, at the end of the show during "40" Bono took a spotlight and went around the upper level so all the fans in the high seats had their moment in time at the concert.

He then put the spotlight on the stage in front of the mike, took out the rosary the Pope had given him (he did a tribute to him earlier in the show) kneeled down, bowed his head, kissed the rosary and hung it from the microphone then said "goodbye old friend" and walked off the stage. Very touching!

I have to say after reading reviews here for a few days before the show tonight....no band is ever going to be perfect night after night on a tour.

Bono's voice tonight was pretty fabulous most of the night, but there were a couple of times he hit a raspy note. The funny thing is it happened during the more simple notes, he seemed really strong during the more challenging vocals.

As far as energy goes, the show has plenty of it! The guys may not be able to jump up and down half the night, but after all these years in the business, they still make thought provoking relevant music and perform better the half the bands out there that are half their age! They are simply one of the greatest bands ever!!!!!!!!!!
