"Music expresses the inexpressible. All our songs are about that, about inarticulation." — Bono

by Trevor

Okay, so that show rocked! I had my choice of seeing them at the Pond or Staples Center and I chose SC and I am glad I did. I saw their last tour twice...once on the first leg at the Pond and once on the second leg at SC and the sound/crowd is just much better at SC. I would almost rank this the best U2 show I have seen, but the only reason it would come in second is when I saw them on the second leg of the last tour is was shortly after 9/11 and it was a pretty emotional and powerful show. If it wasnt for that fact...it would be at the top of the list.

Anyhow, I was lucky enough to get GA tickets through the fan club, but didn't get picked to be in the center of the stage setup. That didn't matter...I was close enough. One of my (many) favorite parts of the show was when Bono brought up a young boy (Jack)on stage and walked around hand in hand with the kid and the kid waving to everyone. When the song was over Bono telling him to raise his hands into the air and as he did confetti falling from the roof as the next song started.

As for the couple of fan reviews I read before I wrote this one was the dislike, or disapproval, of Zoo Station. Personally I thought it fit very well and sounded great! Mysterious Ways on the other hand didn't do it for me at all. That song played well on the ZooTV tour, but didn't have the same impact at all on this tour. As a long time fan of the band, I would have loved to have heard another old (obscure or class) song in place of that one. But that's just my opinion.

If you haven't been to a U2 show...these reviews don't do a show justice. You HAVE TO see a show in person for yourself to understand why we go to sites like these and post our thoughts to others.

By the way, if anybody sees an article in the LA Times can you transcribe in on here so I can read what they had to say.
