"We never suffered from that indie mentality of 'big is bad.' A lot of groups that could've gone on to make amazing music crumbled under some sort of inverse guilt or mistrust of success." — Edge

U2 rock 10,000 fans at big Glasgow show

ROCK giants U2 stormed into Scotland last night to play
their first gig north of the border for four years.

The legendary Irish band put on a blinding performance in
front of nearly 10,000 adoring fans at the Scottish
Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow.

Frontman Bono looked every bit the superstar dressed in
his trademark dark shades, black leather jacket and tight
black jeans.

The award-winning rockers had the crowd in full swing
within seconds when lead guitarist the Edge pounded out
the first few chords of their recent hit Elevation from their
latest album All That You Can't Leave Behind.

The hits just rattled and hummed from there on as the
band belted out songs spanning the last 21 years.

U2 finish off their European tour with a second show at
Slane Castle on Saturday.
