What I like about pop music, and why I'm still attracted to it, is that in the end it becomes our folk music.-- Bono, 2004

by Murdoch

I read Jeff's review with interest as he started off by saying he was in the minority. I too would probably be a bit in the minority as I have read all the reviews posted.

I loved the show and give it a high thumbs up. Unlike "Jeff", who commented that he felt U2's energy level was low, I felt that the Savvis crowd was not what I expected.

I saw U2 on the Joshua Tree tour in Lexington back in 1988 and it was one of the greatest concerts I have ever seen. So the bar has been set high. I anticipated the same crowd response as that Lexington crowd, but I was very disappointed in that respect.

1988 tour was like living through a war zone. Very intense, wore me out, stood the whole time, and crowd went absolutely nuts the whole time. It was like seeing The Boss.

I thought U2's music and interaction with the crowd was deserving of the same Lexington response, but alas, I guess there is a difference between seeing a show at Rupp Arena near UK campus and seeing a show in urban St. Louis.

I thought the crowd was very average if not lame outside of the ellipse. What the hell do they want? U2 put on a helluva show! For what it's worth, I was in Section 322, mezzanine. I wish I was in the ellipse!
