A songwriter plays a chord with the faith that he will hear the next one in his head. -- Bono

by Shawn Bison

I showed up at about 4AM this morning to be one of the first five people in the GA line. I was fortunate enough to make my way right where I wanted to be... right in front of Bono.

I found myself only thinking about Miss Sarajevo most of the day. I thought about its progress and journey (however now very short) along the Vertigo Tour and its possible worthiness as a permanenet fixture in the ever-slightly-sort-of rotating setlist. I was excited at the notion of the song becoming a powerhouse, with Adam and Larry not joining in at the second verse, but being a full-band effort all of the way through. I also enjoyed the possibility of Edge on backing vocals. This made me more and more excited for the show ahead, for the songs I've already heard dozens of times, night after night. I'm sort of in a numb phase of my European journey. Soaking in all that I can, without a care in the world. I'm not looking forward to returning to Iceland to my miserable job.

Anyway, the show tonight rocked harder than any show in the past few weeks. Electric Co. made me shiver with delight, Vertigo made me pump my fist toward's Bono's thighs, and Sometimes made me yell. City made me cry, Bullet made me angry, and Miss Sarajevo just made me. To top it all off, Original was played with some Italian orchestral musicians and was 100% good. I feel sorry for anyone who couldn't make it to tonight's show... it was one of the best U2 shows ever.

Now I go to sleep for 87 hours.
