"I hang out with every set. ... From the penthouse to the pavement but under the pavement." — Bono

by John "frkyu2" Kahler

What a Day and What a Show! We came by the Venue the night before and got useless wristbands and were informed that we could come back in the morning for our place in the GA line. Sunday morning bright and early we drove to the U2 Cathedral also know on this date as the Rose Bowl. We circled the parking area and Brookside golf course looking for a place to park. We decided not to park in the only open parking lot which was about 2 miles from the GA gate E. So we parked by lot # 1 and parked... I decided to walk be the GA gate and sure enough there was a line of about 500 people. Called my friend Craig his daughter Lauren and let them know I would be joining the end of the line as our red wrist bands from the night before were no longer honored. We prepared for a long tailgate day. My problem was I didn't have a ticket. The day went by slow as I walked the line and around the stadium by the Will Call box office nothing was found. Finally around 11am I found fans who had an extra GA ticket and they sold it to me for face value...Thank you very much... When it was time to line up we were in the first group of people to be let in. Having already done the inside the circle thing in Phoenix we had decided to try for the rail on the outer floor. We made it on Adam Clayton's side of the stage. The Black Eyed Peas got us all warmed up with there Let's Get It Started anthem and after a few other weaker songs they brought out Slash from Gun's N Roses fame to play Sweet Child O' Mine with Fergie doing the singing it was great. But we all knew what we waited and lined up all day for it was U2 who put on one great show that was much better than their show in Phoenix on the previous Tuesday. Took some decent pictures from the front of the GA main floor.
