"Washington is not afraid of student activists and rock stars. But they are nervous when they see men with collars hanging out with students and rock stars." — Bono

by David

Home from Atlanta II. U2 fan since 1983. This was my 6th U2 concert and my wife's 5th (1st of this tour). We always love the shows but had some trouble getting into this one.

Part of the reason was probably our seats as they were nosebleed. However, the other reason was the sound. From where we were sitting the sound, other than loud, was not great. It was very difficult to distinguish notes in the various songs and we had difficulty hearing Bono over Edge's guitar. As an example, aside from knowing the melody of Streets, I could not distinguish the usual crystal clear riff at the beginning of the song. I would like to hear feedback from others regarding the sound. Maybe it was just us or the guy singing off key and very loud next to us.

As for the rest of the show, the lights were fantastic and the set list was one to remember. Great and very loud crowd. The band was clearly energized. Bono absolutely killed Miss Sarajevo and Edge's solo during UTEOTW was great. Love and Peace or Else is now a favorite from the newest album. Hearing Bad to close it out was a perfect way to end the night. Thanks to the band. Even being disappointed with the sound can't keep us away from the next tour.
