Only about 10 people in the world make me really laugh, and four of them are in the band -- including Paul, our manager. -- Bono

World''s best band rocked Calgary Monday night

There was a little controversy after Bono claimed the title for the
Irish band at the Grammys in February. However, Monday night
the band proved they are more than worthy.

The legendary Irish group is doing an 80-show tour in North
America and Europe in support of their latest album, "All That
You Can't Leave Behind". Calgary is the seventh stop on the
tour, which began in Miami, Florida March 24.

Despite a full house Monday night's show was intimate and
exciting. From the moment the band casually stepped
onstage with the Saddledome flooded in light, to Bono's
dance with a fan who somehow snuck onstage during the
final song, the show was non-stop entertainment.

The band played mostly old favourites with a number of
songs off their new album. They mixed things up with a
slowed-down acoustic version of "Desire", featuring The Edge
on guitar. A few of their well-known ballads were also pulled
out.

But it was their high-energy rock numbers that had the crowd
on their feet all night. From an electrifying "Sunday, Bloody
Sunday" to the touching "Stuck In A Moment," a song
dedicated to the late Michael Hutchence, the band had the
audience in the palm of their hands.

British rocker PJ Harvey opens the show with her own brand
of hard rock.
