I just don't want to go through what I call the Interesting Music Phase. That really means 'We just don't get it.'-- Bono, 2004

by Aidan Zuluwitz

This was one of the best shows I have ever seen. They knew the audience was full of casual fans so they were not ashamed to play a greatest hits set. Streets, Sunday, Pride, One, Vertigo, Beautiful Day, I still haven't found, and many others. A Highlight for me was Bono singing Pavorotti's lines in Miss Sarajevo, and an unexpected additional song at the end, their very first record, Out of Control. Most impressive to me was that the casual fans let loose and jumped and screamed as much as the regulars. Two things bothered me: One was that Bono was clearly struggling at times. His voice was perfect but he appeared to be in pain during the later part of the main set. Also the New Jersey rail system was clearly not designed to transport 95000 people! It took 2 hours to get back to Manhattan. Other than that, a truly great night out!
