I don't do many interviews because it's all in the lyrics. -- Bono

by Bob Stevens

The Opening Show was Fantastic! The band sounded great and were in great spirits. The show opened while the house lights were still on..while the band casually walked onto the stage and waved to the fans and took to their places and went into Elevation. Bono came out last and the crowd erupted! The stage is 360 degrees with banners that are pulled up and down during several songs (The Fly, With Or Without, Sweetest Thing, Streets...)The lighting was great and provided shadows and laser patterns across the entire stage and crowd which brought a warm feel to the show..The show had a MAJOR SCARE into the third song (Until The End of the World) which almost become The End of the Show! Bono fell from the runway/catwalk six (6) feet straight to the ground while reaching for fans. Bono was dazed & motionless for a few seconds and then was slowly assisted back onto the stage. The band did not miss a beat while this happened, however the gasp from the crowd was LOUD....Highlights of the show include a spirited BAD which included lines from Lou Reed/Walk on the Wild Side for the South Florida crowd (Polly came from MIAMI, F-L-A, from all the way across the USA....)Sunday Bloody Sunday saw a band introduction by Bono while each Larry, Adam, and The Edge walked to the front of the heart stage to join Bono, Sweetest Thing saw Bono sing and play the Piano for the entire song and afterwards he post dedicated the song to his wife, Bullet the Blue Sky saw Bono use the spotlight trick like from The Joshua Tree tour/Rattle & Hum. Bono was conversational throughout and mentioned that Miami was were several of the songs from POP were recorded...

In short, the crowd was very rowdy and the band were ready & prepared and DELIVERED the goods tonight. Final mention...The opening act was the Corrs and they also sounded great unfortunately the sound wasn't loud enough for the first couple songs, but they got the crowd going early. I'm looking forward to the Monday Show....
