And my old man was into opera, which, as far as I was concerned, was just heavy metal. I like those bawdy opera songs. -- Bono

The people of Montreal love U2. Never have I seen the band feel the love and nervous excitement from the audience as they did on opening night in the Molson center arena. It seemed the crowd was not going to just sit back and watch the show- they were intent on being a part of it, singing along to every song that was played. The band picked up on the audience's energy level and put on a show for the ages. The set list was powerful and well balanced with old and new, including 2 of my personal favorites, Out of Control and Stay. The highlight of the show for me personally was during The Fly, on the first encore. Bono approached the bottom of the heart on the floor where I was standing and i reached out to him and handed him my sunglasses. He played with his reflection with the sunglasses and put them on to finish the song. It was a great thrill! After the show i tried desperately to get my glasses back, but in the madness of the floor GA, someone in the audience had taken them from one of the stage hands! Anyhow, it was a great moment, and the best U2 performance that I have ever seen! And if you or someone you know knows what happenned to the sunglasses, drop me a line and let me know ....it would be fun to share the story!
