"I write songs about high ideas and aspirations and I admire Martin Luther King and John Hume, peaceful people, but in myself I'm capable of aggression of a really brutal kind." — Bono

Alot of people have blamed the audience for the lack of energy, but I have to blame the band for choosing a weak (by U2 standards) setlist.

It started off strong, but "Still Haven't Found..", followed by "In a Little While" really sucks the life out of a big arena like that. They followed with Beautiful Day, which got people on their feet again, but then they launched into another string of quiet songs that killed the mood - "Many Rivers to Cross, Miracle Drug, Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" - all good songs, but maybe not the best way to keep the crowd energy up. I think it was a poor setlist and the audience reaction was very good when the band kept the pace up.

I've seen a lot of U2 shows and quite frankly, this one was just "OK". The band is professional and sounds great, but the arrangement of songs really killed it for me.

BTW - Night 2 (10/20) was 100x better - better setlist = more audience energy.
