You don't think of Elvis as political, but that is politics: changing the way people see the world.-- Bono, tribute to Elvis Presley, 2004

by Jim "njbono"

MSG 10-14-05

Ok so this was my 7th Vertigo show and I have to say the excitement doesnt stop. I decided to get there early to see Keane perform their final time with U2, and also last time for some time while they take a break. They did a great job, I really enjoyed everything about the band.

So waiting 30+ mins till U2 came on I was able to speak to so many people in my section (section 70!). All had just amazing comments about U2 and in particular Bono. Just saying how much Bono loves this, loves his fans (little did we all know we were in for a big treat this evening).

U2 opened with City Of Blinding Lights, and its just a magical beginning for a concert. The lights, the glitter, the excitement with The Edges guitar, its just a very strange feeling you get - One that I find very hard to explain, but wish I had it always. When you get a chance to hear Electric Co and Gloria in the same show you say nothing but wow! But it wasnt over there.

Many comment on leaving Bullet the Blue Sky out, me too probably, but I see why they play it. U2 loves it and everyone was really rocking to it. A powerful version of With or With Out you, Streets of course was great, The crowd again stole I Still havent found. The encore of Vertigo was better than the 1st CRAZY.

Thank you to all the GA fans who took hold of Bonos good mood tonight. I had a chance to watch from above from above and I saw the excitement and pure pleasure on their faces.

One of the funniest parts was when Bono noticed a fan in the ellipse and asked him what song do you want to hear..? He said Party Girl! Bono looked at The Edge and Larry and they started. On the 2nd verse Larry completely missed his queue knocking both Edge and Bono out in lala land. It turned out ok, though, Bono picked it and completed the song in awesome fashion. (Anyone saying Bono forgot the lyrics is wrong, Bono actually didnt even try the 2nd verse when Larry seemed to be still in the 1st. He even commented to him something like Larry forgot what we were playing.

I dont think there is anywhere better to see U2 in the world. Im not saying there is no where equal, but no where better. One day U2 will not be touring, I know though, at least I had this moment in history with them and 18,000 other fans.
