[P]eople get a clearer glimpse of who you are through the music than through any interview you may do. -- Bono

by Helen Naylor

The Memphis show was AMAZING...i wasn't quite sure what to expect, as I thought a lot of the show would be similar to the Vegas show...and it wouldn't be as exciting... I was wrong!

The set list was similar, but some of the highlights were the fact that the segment between Please and Where the Streets Have No Name was not the snippet of the drum intro to Sunday Bloody Sunday, but MLK! I liked bein' in Memphis! However, maybe it is best that I am not able to see them again, as I seem to be a jinx...both times I have seen them, they have had to stop and restart Staring at the Sun...this time, the band was in one key, and Bono in another...so after the first verse, Bono waved the band to stop, and got his acoustic guitar...and then they played a killer version!

Bono pulled some girl out of the audience for Miami, and seemed to be on the catwalk to the B-stage quite a bit...or maybe I just noticed it more as I was standing next to it about 1/3 of the way out from the stage!

Bono dedicated One to Stuart Adamson...very cool, and then they played "Can't Help Falling in Love" as a final encore after One...i didn't expect that, although i don't know whether that was a Memphis thing, or whether that had/will add it from now on, as I haven't been able to keep up with WIRE lately!

All in all, I was extremely glad that I went, and really wish I had the funds to again...and again, and again! Vegas was a blast, but I was able to see more this time, and was even more impressed.
