"Dublin people will never kiss ass, and I don't want them to kiss ass." — Bono

by Frank

Just got back home and I have had some time to collect my thoughts. My wife and I flew from our home in Boston to the opening show for the 2nd straight tour.

Here's my impression: Mediocre. Not worth the price of admission (especially when the face value of 2 tickets is $370.05).

The band was good tonight, but not great. There were highs (Love and Peace, Streets, One) I loved hearing Running to Stand Still again.

I thought City of Blinding Lights was a horrible opener....Miracle needs work - but could be great in time...I thought Bono was overacting much of the night - too reminiscent of his Fly persona.

Most importantly, I think that for the price of admission - the band needs to be on stage MUCH longer. With their catalog and the price of tix -they should be up there for 2 1/2 - 3 hours. Pearl Jam, for example, will consistently play between 25 - 30 songs...everynight, while varying the setlist greatly.

I love the band, still great to see live, but I feel they were going through the motions.
