"I wish I could live up to the idea of Christianity. It's like I'm a fan; I'm not actually in the band." — Bono

by Quinn McCutchan

Bono and Edge were the only artists joined on stage by President Clinton, and he lavished them with praise before their encore.

Although I expected the gents to play some mainstream songs, I was glad to hear "Staring at the Sun" and "A Man and a Woman" which were definitely hits with the major fans in our section of the bowl. Bono's best vocal moments were during the opera section of "Miss Sarajevo," and I thought he performed this better than during the last leg of the 360 tour. Some parking-conscious Angelinos took off in the middle of the set (something you'd never see at a full-blown U2 show) and while they may not have been engaged by some of the riskier, lesser-known songs in the brief set, they were a real treat for the U2 diehards in attendance.

It was special to see an acoustic set, but the rhythm section was dearly missed. Excepting the aforementioned success in "Miss Sarajevo," none of the songs really reached that euphoric, transcendent level that Larry and Adam definitely contribute to on stage.
