"People have been coming to U2 shows for 20 years now. It's almost like the Deadheads at this stage." — Adam

by Bryce Curdy

U2 are a fantastic band, and great live performers.

Nevertheless, I did not think I got value for money at Hampden. The main reason was the deplorable sound quality as many others have pointed out. My wife got tickets for Coldplay last weekend, and whether you think they're fit to lace U2's boots or not is irrelevant - the sound quality was immeasurably better.

The shape of the terraces at Hampden also makes visuals less than ideal. Despite wearing my glasses I found myself watching the screens more than the stage.

For £85 (+ booking fee + U2.com membership fee) I also felt a bit let down by the support. Interpol were actually quite good (I bought Antics after details of the support were announced), but at these prices I felt entitled to a bigger name.

The setlist was strong. I hugely admire the band for varying things each night, although on a purely personal level I would have preferred I Will Follow and End of the World to Electric Co. and Wild Horses. Bono's messages were slightly confused. The stewarding arrangements at the end were disgraceful.

Still a great show, but next tour I'll go abroad to see the band indoors.
