"I don't partake in the spanking of the Yank. That's more of an English thing." — Bono

by Chris Pellegrini

My girlfriend and I flew from NJ to come see this show, my first for this tour. Spent a week in AZ and had an amazing time. And of course the grand finale of this vacation was U2, maybe the best show I've seen next to their 1st NYC show on the Elevation tour (I've seen them nine times all total). First the arena is just fantastic (especially compared to the Meadowlands!) The hallways are spacious, the sound is crystal clear from the stage and the beer flows freely from many concession stands. I was in the last row in the center upper deck but I loved it since I could jump and pump my fists and not have to worry about anyone behind me. The band was really tight, Bono's voice was especially good and Edge was as good as ever. Larry and Adam kept the beat tight. Favorite songs: Running to a Stand Still, Beautiful Day (the crowd went wild for that one) Streets, Vertigo and City of Blinding Lights. 40 at the end was just haunting and touching at the same time. Incredible show, now my next one is in the Meadowlands in May, which I'm sure will be a letdown since the crowd bails during the first encore to beat traffic, but NJ does tailgate better than anyone (surprisingly, did not see any tailgating in AZ, I guess its too hot!)
