I get bored with partying and maybe that's my saving grace -- some people don't. -- Bono

by Duane L. White

Since I haven't seen U2 since Yankee Stadium during the Zoo TV tour, This was a concert I have been definitely waiting for! Fun Lovin' Criminals were O.K., but I was really upset at the hour-long wait for U2 after FLC finished. At about 9:55, the band emerged from the sold-out crowd and onto the stage. Everything they did was exactly the same as almost every other concert that I 've read in these reviews, except Bono said "Well, New York! A show so big they had to have it in New Jersey!"

"Pride" was great, if overused, but the show really lit up for me when they went into "Where the Streets Have No Name"," With or Without You", and the closer "One". Bono didn't talk much at all, and there were no encores, they just sang all the songs straight through, probably because they started so late! Muscially, they were just about flawless, all the songs done beautifully, especially the "POP" selections (see "Please"). But from the heart, I felt nothing from the guys, this being the 6th time I've seen them. Just another stop on the way. (Maybe I expected too much, but this is "from MY heart!")
