"I write songs about high ideas and aspirations and I admire Martin Luther King and John Hume, peaceful people, but in myself I'm capable of aggression of a really brutal kind." — Bono

by Quint

Well, I'm right back from the concert in Arnhem and what can I say.

The support act Kelis wasn't that bad, but they weren't really good either. Their cover of sweet dreams was ok, but they better avoided to do Nirvana's Smell like teen spirit, cause it didn't really pleased the audience. The song sounded like an insult to Nirvana. And the whole audience showed what they thought about it.

U2 started great with Elevation, Beautiful day, Until the end of the world, etc. The songs followed each other quite fast. The music was great, but the setlist was in my opinion a little disappointing. If I compare today's setlist to the one of yesterday I wish I was there yesterday. Songs like I will follow, New years day, Gone, Bad & The fly were missing. And what was wrong with Bono's voice? He wasn't able to reach the high notes in songs like The sweetest thing (which isn't mentioned on today's setlist), With or without you and one. And also no girl was taken on the stage to dance with Bono and I thought that was a usual thing.

Anyways, the soundlevel wasn't really loud as I was used to on Popmart and Zooropa, but maybe that's because the Gelredome isn't that suitable for such rocking hard concerts as Feyenoord Stadium is. Next time Kuip again, guys.

Ok, I don't want to be too negative. Probably I'm too spoiled with the Zooropa and Popmart concerts, which were unbeatable. The Elevation concert was awesome and I totally went out of control. It was hot, I sung and danced my heart out of my life, my mouth was deathdry, but I really didn't care. I had the night of my life again.

Btw: I heard that Adam fell on the stage in the beginning, but I haven't seen that.
