“He is a superb showman, but there is something more going on . . . Something to do with politics, kids, freshness and breakthrough. And love." — Joan Baez, on Bono's Live Aid dance

by Jason Mastriana

An oustanding event for the 97 summer. The lighting and dramatics accompanied by the sounds brought reminiscence of the old days of big venues and great bands. Pop tour was as unbelievable as the album itself. U2 is one of the few bands that can add twists to there sound and still be successful. Why? Because they're good. Their recent songs are as moving and energy filled as the classics that we love. The show itself encaptured the excitement and energy that U2 has possessed through out their career. The show concluded all I expected from the band and more. And how can you resist a karaoke version of Daydream Believer by the Edge, come on. Catch them if you can, they're a living legend that isn't ready to retire. Tip: pick up the singles, they include some great extra songs like the Pop Mart opener and an acoustic version of Staring at the Sun.
