"I find someone like [James] Joyce quite rock 'n' roll, because he was bending and messing with words." — Bono

by gringo vox

This show was the second U2 show for me and it ended up being a bit of a disappointment in spite of my incredible seats. My sister camped out for tickets at some record store in Lansing and I was the beneficiary of that ticket vigil. We were in the 6th or 7th row on Adam's side and stood on the seats for the entire set. If this had been my first U2 show I would have been knocked out by them. But having seen them at the Grand Circus a year and a half earlier this show seemed a bit flat. The most disappointed song of the night was Wire from the Unforgetable Fire. The Edge's guitar sounds so great on the record but it sounded pretty dull in concert.

Like the other reviewers - I remember that balcony rocking and consoling myself that it wasn't really over my head so I'd survive its collapse.

You know what - the best part of this show was that it introduced me to the Waterboys another band I love to this day.
