"I joined a band to hit things." — Larry

by Alan Ivory

Went from England for a long weekend to both shows, 2nd night definitely better than the 1st. I remember only just getting into this show as the band came on, then walked straight onto the field near to the mixing desk. Despite the local security's best attempts to keep everyone in their alloted seating area, we managed to get pretty close to the stage as well. I remember the Elvira link in EBTTRT and her wishing Larry "Happy Birthday". My most vivid memory of the night was bumping into Paul McGuinness and him remembering me from the UK gigs a few month earlier. He asked how long we were there for, to which I replied "just for the weekend" with that he pulled out a couple of laminates and invited us back fro a drink after the show. We had been to the aftershow the previous night, which was in the press box up in the gods. The laminate meant the real deal, we ended up in a tent with the crew, the record company and their guests, while the band entertained Axl Rose, George Michael & Eric Clapton in the tent next door. McGuinness was in good form and introduced us to people from the record company as "2 mad fans from England". On the way out we bumped into Adam, who was with Axl Rose & Stephanie Seymour. To the astonishment of one young fan, Waxl actually drove himself home, which left us pissing ourselves with laughter. A great night indeed.
