"'Streets' is the gift that keeps on giving. The way it reinvents itself every tour is probably part of the magic — we've never got bored with it." — Willie Williams

by Alan H.

My fourth show on the tour including a trip to Slane one. The emotion the Slane crowd showed will never be touched but the band was bang on tonight. They appeared to be much more relaxed than the Toronto shows back in May which made for a better performance.

I also thought the sound was far better than the first leg, especially Larry's drums which were crystal clear. They were also very subtle in getting their point across with respect to the New York issue... the names of those who died being played on the screen behind the band during 'One' was a great touch. Bono also draped his jacket, which was lined with the American Flag over the mike stand as they left the stage.. ie leaving us with an image to go home with..

Other highs for me included Out of Control, SBS, Bad, Streets, Bullet and Peace on Earth/ Walk On. Bono's voice which at times on this (and on past tour- Popmart) has been a bit dodgy... tonight it was perfect.. best I've heard it since Zoo TV.

Word of warning for anyone making a sign saying that they want to play guitar with the band.. know what you are doing!! The poor guy that got up on stage didn't have a clue what he was doing.. band instead of making fun of him, had fun with him which made for a great moment.

By the way for those who may have thought that Bono was using the - check the back of the guitar- 'Hello Springfield!!' routine to try win over the Hamilton crowd(ie, its our first time playing Hamilton, but we've been here many, many times).. it is actually true... They have been to Hamilton many times.. when play Toronto they typically fly in and out of Hamilton Airport and they have recorded some material at Grant Avenue Studios which used to be owned by Danny Lanois..

GREAT SHOW....
