"Some people say that as they get older and/or have a family they mellow out. For me, the opposite is true." — Bono

by Kevin Z

WOW!!! That's the only word that comes to mind. My 3rd elevation concert this year. I thought both DC shows were great, but this one blew both of them away. It was my first time in GA and I was on Edge's side in the front row. As the show started I found Paul McGuinness standing in front of me. I don't think anyone else around me knew it was him.

It was amazing to see the band so close, especially Bono and Edge walking around the heart. I was truly blown away by the power of this band. The song selection was awesome. Hearing "Out of Control", "What's Going On", "Please", Angel of Harlem" and "Knocking on Heaven's Door" (among others) were truly a surprise. The guy that played "Knocking on Heaven's Door" did an outstanding job. You could see Bono was surprised by the man's ability to play the song by saying "Thank God".

The band looked like they were having a good time and were really relaxed. "Please" wasn't a total surprise because I could hear the band rehearsing it when I was standing outside in line, but an appropriate addition to the setlist. As for Bullet, it was really fierce this time around, but no extended rap. I hope they come back to baltimore in the future.
