[W[e have to learn to understand that people who don't agree with the way we think -- don't demonize them. -- Bono

by Gustavo Galvan-Duque

It is always a treat to see them live in your hometown after chasing them around in other parts of the world. The venue did not promise much in terms of coziness as the rest of the indoor tour within the US/05 was, but still impressive given size. Setlist was good but not great (for me at least). Would have loved to hear Bad, Electric Co., Miracle Drug, An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart, Crumbs amongst others. Band was tight with few flaws but then again there was just something that didnt make it one of those unforgettable ones, you know, those that only U2 can deliver (see review of Mexico City #2). Crowd was mixed, hard core fans near the stage and elsewhere but also too many (for me again) posers. Band was apologetic and thankful. Edge was a bit off and Bonos voice in some songs was not at its peak. Larry and Adam were playing tops. Highest priced seats were crap and visibility was limited in most of them. Original of the species was way off and sometimes the setlist did not flow nicely. I guess after many concerts and over 20 years following them one does get too critic. In any case, being there again in the City of Blinding Lights (and blinding smog) with the best band in the world, my wife and our soon to be born baby boy, was in itself a very special moment. Cheers.
