"We can write songs about God and have them right next to songs about girls. I think we weave God, sex and politics together in a way that's very unusual to white music." — Bono

by SLY

This was my second show of Vertigo tour. I attended a show on first leg in Anaheim. It was a completely different experience as I sat in the lower bowl for that concert. I had floor tickets for this concert.

My wife and I were not lucky enough to get chosen for the Ellipse. However, we utilized the advise of some fans that had attended previous concerts. Prior to the beginning of the show, we stayed at the back of the floor. About ten minutes before U2 took the stage, I spotted the person that handled the arm bands for the chosen few that were placed in the Ellipse. He remembered my wife (she tried to persuade him two hours before) and gave us the last two arm bands that he had. We arrrived inside the Ellipse about two minutes before the U2 took the stage.

After the show, I saw the set list that U2 was scheduled to perform. They had planned to perform "Fast Cars" and "Wild Horses", but the last second performance of "Angel of Harlem" changed everything. This particular song was suggested by the man fan that was brought on stage.

Overall, one of the better performances that I have seen since I began attending their shows in 1987.
