"If you're close enough to see the tattoo you're too close." — Larry, answering a question about his tattoo

by N. Tschoegl and C. Hoelzl

The U2 gig on August 16th was my third U2 concert after Vienna in 1992 and Munich in 1993. In my opinion this gig was very special because it was the day that Elvis Presley died 20 years ago. So they changed the set in two points: The Karaoke number was Suspicious Minds and they closed the show with Can't Help Falling in Love. Bono mentioned Elvis death during Last Night on Earth as you could see many pills on the video wall.

As I was informed about the show from your site and from MTV I would like to say that the real gig is very impressive. My high-lights were the Joshua Tree classics, New Year's Day, Pride and the wonderful Staring at the Sun.

The concert took place in my hometown and so I was one of the first who entered the field. The support group was Paradise Now!, an Austrian group who did not perform very well.

At Half an hour past nine o'clock U2 entered the stage. I was in front of the B-stage anf had so the chance to see Bono three meters in front of me.

Concluding I would like to say that this was one of my best concerts ever.

Greetings from Wiener Neustadt,

Norbert Tschoegl and Christian Hoelzl
