The stadium opened on May 29, 1966. It is home to the Mexican national football team. It has a capacity of 105, 064 seats, although more than 119,000 people attended the Mexico/Brazil match on July 7, 1968. It is the largest football stadium in the world, the third largest stadium in the Americas, and the fifth largest in the world. U2's 360 show at the stadium was the largest of the tour, with an audience of 110,000 people.
