"We never suffered from that indie mentality of 'big is bad.' A lot of groups that could've gone on to make amazing music crumbled under some sort of inverse guilt or mistrust of success." — Edge

Comments: U2 play a fund raising festival for Hot Press magazine. Rory Gallagher is the headliner, and others on the bill include Paul Brady, Shakin' Pyramids and Big Self. Both Simple Minds and De Dannan had also initally been slated to perform, but in the end, neither did.

The event had hoped to draw a crowd of 10,000 but ended up with about half that amount.

Bono brings his then fiancée, Alison Stewart, on stage during "11 O'Clock Tick Tock."
