U2 Wins Q Award for Best Live Act

@U2, November 02, 2016
By: Tassoula E Kokkoris

It was just announced that U2 won "Best Live Act" in the Q Awards, which are happening now in London. Coldplay, Muse, Savages and Wolf Alice were also nominated in the category. They conducted a brief Periscope interview, available here, with The Edge and Adam Clayton, who are in attendance at the ceremony.

The Edge also won the Gibson Guitar Les Paul Award. "Named after the late great inventor of the solid body electric guitar which made the sound of rock’n’roll possible and many recording innovations such as overdubbing, delay effects and multi track recording, the Les Paul award celebrates the great guitar players who have continued to develop the instrument."

Congrats to The Edge and all members of U2 for their wins tonight.

The band were also nominated for "Best Act in the World Today," but that award went to their former opening act, Muse.

UPDATE Nov. 3: Q magazine interviewed Adam and The Edge after they collected those awards, and that Q&A is now on YouTube:

Adam and The Edge also spoke with Absolute Radio after the awards last night. Similar to the Q interview in terms of content, although there is further confirmation that U2 is in the studio working on the next album, and it'll be out sometime next year.
