U2 Set List: Indianapolis, September 10, 2017

@U2, September 10, 2017
By: Sherry Lawrence

U2 went back to the future tonight in Indianapolis as Bono reminisced about the Dalton Brothers before launching into the tour debut of "You’re The Best Thing About Me." It's a proper rock-and-roll 45 like what they used to do," Bono said. At the conclusion of the song, Bono said he had a dream that he was in a strange house, his wife and kids left him, and he thought, "No, I left them." He said, "I told my darling, Ali, and she laughed. She said, 'I'm not going anywhere, you're not going anywhere, and if you were you wouldn't know where the door was, would ya?'" (watch the video below)

Bono reminded the audience during "Trip Through Your Wires" that the Dalton Brothers debuted on stage in Indianapolis 30 years ago, naming each of them and bantering with an audience member. "You were there? Were you changed by the experience of the Dalton Brothers? So were we."

On a more serious note, during "Pride (In The Name Of Love)," Bono quoted Robert F. Kennedy’s 1968 speech announcing the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from the back of a flatbed truck in Indianapolis.

Prior to "One," Bono said, "Texans and Floridians will cross every kind of divide to help their neighbor," encouraging cooperation and collaboration among all. He also gave a shout-out to NASA astronaut Shane Kimbrough, who was at the show. An extended snippet of "Drowning Man" concluded "One," with the Red Cross hurricane donation appeal projected on the screen.

Next up: Kansas City, Missouri, on Tuesday.
