"Our music in the early '80s, it might have been ecstatic, but it wasn't really sexy, was it? Now we're sexy and ecstatic." — Bono

After a flurry of rumors over the past day, a new song by U2 and Indian musician/singer A.R. Rahman has been released. The single is called "Ahimsa," a Sanskrit word that means respect to living things and an avoidance of violence. The song is sung in English, Sanskrit and Tamil. It is available starting Friday, November 22, 2019 at midnight in each timezone. It is performed by the full band and has vocals from A.R. Rahman and his daughters, Khatija and Raheema Rahman. The cover features Bono’s handwritten lyrics and is similar to the art that the band posted on their Instagram feed yesterday.
