U2 Does Two Songs, Talks on Fallon's Tonight Show Premiere

@U2, February 18, 2014
By: Matt McGee

U2 helped launch the latest incarnation of NBC's long-running late-night talk show Monday night by being the first musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The band performed two songs and sat down as a group for a short chat, as well.

Early in the show, U2 did the first public live version of "Invisible." It was taped up at "Top of the Rock," the observation deck on top of NBC's headquarters. The band recorded the song twice and fans who were there for the performance are saying that the version that aired during the show was a combination of both performances.

Later in the program, all four band members came out to talk with Fallon, but that segment was dominated by an acoustic version of "Ordinary Love" -- the first live performance of that song, too. Fallon's house band, The Roots, joined in near the end of the song and Bono changed the lyrics to reference drummer Questlove instead of singing "ordinary love."

Both performances are on YouTube at the moment, but I'm betting they won't be available for long. We'll embed them for anyone that was unable to see the show.
