Sing Street film, with Bono & The Edge soundtrack, to get US Release

The U.S. rights to John Carney's movie Sing Street have been acquired by the Weinstein Company in a $3 million deal.

The production, to start shooting this year, will feature Bono and The Edge doing the original soundtrack.

Sing Street is a semiautobiographical story, set in Dublin during the '80s, about a teenager who forms a band. Irish director Carney is probably best known for directing the 2007 film Once.

The Weinstein Co. distributed Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, featuring U2's song "Ordinary Love," which won a Golden Globe Award and earned an Oscar nomination this year.
