"I am a singer and a songwriter but I am also a father, four times over. I am a friend to dogs. I am a sworn enemy of the saccharine; and a believer in grace over karma. I talk too much when I'm drunk and sometimes even when I'm not."

-- Bono, 2001 Harvard graduation speech

Set List Recap: U2 Buenos Aires, October 10, 2017

@U2, October 10, 2017
By: Fernanda Bottini

After six years, U2 is back in Argentina. The last time the band visited South America was during the 360 tour. On Monday, Bono met President Mauricio Macri at Casa Rosada. They talked about the "Poverty Is Sexist" campaign and missing activist Santiago Maldonado.

Tonight’s show was delayed for a little more than an hour because of an important Argentina football (soccer) match (World Cup Qualifiers to Russia 2018). The game was broadcast on the screen to the audience at the Estádio Único La Plata.

Bono mentioned Argentine football (soccer) player Lionel Messi several times, including a toast with Champagne at the end of the show. "Thank you Lionel Messi, who surely proves that God exists," he said. A very emotional part of the show was during "Mothers Of The Disappeared," when fans did a flashmob with white handkerchiefs (like Madres de Plaza de Mayo) and everyone sang "El Pueblo Vencerá."
