"We've never been cool; we're hot. Irish people are Italians who can't dress, Jamaicans who can't dance." — Bono

New U2 Single Drops: You're The Best Thing About Me

U2 dropped its first official single from the forthcoming Songs Of Experience, “You’re The Best Thing About Me,” this morning online and to radio stations around the globe. Not breaking with tradition, Dave Fanning dropped in on RTE2 FM’s The Nicky Byrne Show for the world-exclusive first play of the song.

The band’s also launched a lyric video to accompany the single, and the song is available across a variety of music services including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Google Play and Deezer.

Anton Corbijn’s photo of Sian Evans, Edge and Morleigh’s daughter, is featured as the single’s sleeve.

U2.com announced the song will be performed live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Thursday night, and that a special visual art piece will be coming to U2.com subscribers.

While "You're The Best Thing About Me" is the first official single, two other tracks from Songs Of Experience have already been shared by U2: "The Blackout" and "The Little Things That Give You Away."

U2.com also states, “Songs Of Experience will be available on CD, vinyl and digital download, with the release date and pre-order details announced soon.” When U2 revealed "The Blackout" last week, the Facebook and U2.com posts promised "full details" about the new album today, as part of the "You're The Best Thing About Me" release. But late last week, eagle-eyed U2 fans noticed that those posts were edited and the promise of SOE details was removed. No doubt all of this will prompt lots of speculation among online fans that the album won't be released in 2017 as the band promised last Christmas. Fear not, fans. Our sources are saying the album announcement will come toward the end of October, and pre-orders will be available immediately at that time. According to today's article by Jon Pareles in The New York Times"The album, Songs of Experience, is now scheduled to arrive Dec. 1." While there has been no official announcement from U2 themselves, the December 1 release rumors for SOE remain strong.
