"Some people expect U2 to come on like a political band. . . . Other people see us as prophets. Some see us as pop stars. . . . And we're not any of those things. We're probably all of them. I don't know what we are."

Larry Mullen Stars in Canadian Movie

@U2, April 26, 2010
By: Tassoula / @tassoula

Update 4/28: @U2 reader Josh M. in Orangeville reports that the production is closing up around town and that all of the actors and filmmakers have been very courteous and kind about allowing residents to watch filming and seek autographs. More photos have been added to the town's local newspaper, which can be accessed here.

4/26: It seems my blog post earlier today noting Larry Mullen's formal acting debut was just the tip of the iceberg. Here are a few details that we have just learned:

  • The name of the film is Man On The Train
  • The director is Mary McGuckian, who previously directed Inconceivable
  • Larry's co-stars are Donald Sutherland and Graham Greene
  • The film is a re-make of a 2002 French film
  • Larry apparently plays the bank robber, which means he probably has a somewhat major role

The website Pop Goes the News has a great photo slideshow of one of Larry's key scenes and additional information here.

Though it may be Larry's first time acting as another person, he did appear as himself in Phil Joanau's 1999 film Entropy.
