As we hit the six-month mark since the Newtown shootings, the response to new gun laws is a mixed bag. To keep from losing steam, Tony Bennett has been gathering stars to throw their weight behind the campaign for common-sense gun laws.

The last guest, Paul McCartney, couldn't quite drum up the swell to get people to take action in time, but perhaps Bono can.

Bono recorded a voice message that launches today when supporters text MY VOICE to 877877.

Other stars that have joined the fight against gun laws in the U.S. are Snoop Lion, Paul McCartney, Alec Baldwin, Alec Baldwin, Jim Carrey and Elton John.

"With over 5,000 deaths attributed to gun violence in just the six months since the terrible Newtown massacre, I am truly appreciative that Bono has lent his voice to our efforts — he is a extraordinary humanitarian," commented Bennett in a news release.
