"The musicians are only ordinary people. It's the music which is extraordinary, if you like." — Bono

Bono Makes The 20 Most Politically Effective Celebs List

Bono made the cut for "The 20 Most Politically Effective Celebrities" list by the National Journal.

The report says of the passionate U2 frontman, "Bono has demonstrated tenacity, persistence, and extraordinary political dexterity in building alliances not only with left-of-center American political figures such as Bill Clinton and Bill Gates but with George W. Bush and Jesse Helms."

Bono was also cited for his work on behalf of those in distress around the world. "Bono not only raised consciousness about his issues-poverty and health needs in Africa-but has changed the way that celebrities interact with politicians and issues," the article said.

Other famous faces on the list are Bob Geldof, Michael J. Fox, the late Elizabeth Taylor, and George Clooney. Clooney, who is no stranger to offering his services to many charities, had nothing but kind words to say about Bono.

As per an interview in The New York Times, Clooney said, "He calls on everyone to be their best. If you fall short, you feel embarrassed. That's the unique thing. And we all want to be that person."

Sounds like he summed up Bono perfectly.
