Bono interview is featured on cover of new Rolling Stone

Bono on Rolling Stone cover

Bono is on the cover of the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine, and the magazine features a lengthy conversation between him and publisher Jann Wenner.

The full conversation is already on RollingStone.com. There's no real hard news in it, but Bono does kinda confirm that new song "Summer Of Love" knowingly samples from a song that One Republic was working on last year called "West Coast." He also shares some pretty strong statements about Aung San Suu Kyi and the current situation in Myanmar, and talks about U2's place in the current industry landscape -- Spotify and streaming services, why he still thinks U2 should seek out radio airplay, etc. Perhaps the most interesting part of the interview, for me at least, is near the end when Wenner asks Bono what the rest of the band thinks about their new songs. He discusses Edge and Adam first before saying this about Larry:

I am not sure Larry knows what to make of the album. He loved the tour, but he and I are probably the hardest on every U2 recording.... He has that sort of Irish [thing of being] down on all things new. I have had that myself at times, but not with this album. But, you know, we are just like that. It is hard to explain.

Here's the full interview online. If you're looking in your local store's magazine racks in the coming days, it's a double issue -- January 11-25, 2018.
