To some people the church is their ticket to respectability, a certain bourgeois point of view, a safety net for when they go to bed. My idea of Christianity is no safety net, a scathing attack on bourgeois values, and a risk to respectability.-- Bono, 2002

A Tradition Ends (For Now): No Busking for Bono This Christmas Eve

@U2

A Christmas Eve tradition has come to an end, at least temporarily. For the first time since 2009, Bono didn't take part in a charity busking session on Grafton Street in Dublin. Many of the other regulars were there, like Glen Hansard, Damien Rice and Paddy Casey (and others), but Bono had to skip this year, no doubt due to the serious injuries he suffered in that New York City bike accident last month.

Though he didn't sing any Christmas tunes today, Bono was spotted having a Christmas Eve dinner with family and friends (including Larry Mullen Jr. and Shane MacGowan) at The Cliff Townhouse in Dublin. If you want to see some photos, that link to the Mirror's article has one, and you can also go to Newscom.com and do a search for "bono."

Bono's first Christmas Eve busking happened back in 2009 and continued for five straight years ... until today. Here's hoping he's back at it again on Christmas Eve 2015.
